My First Liceolympics Experience

The screams of the students roared in the coliseum of University of St. La Salle as they cheered for their houses –Paris, Parmenie, Rheims and Rouen. Each house uses instruments to make their team and group loud as much as possible. Different chants can be heard in a rhythmic way, which can also be heard outside the activity area. The coliseum is also filled with four colors which is red for Rheims, blue for Rouen, yellow for Paris and green for Parmenie, that represent the colors of the houses. Excitement is visible in the faces of the Liceo students as the Liceolympics begin, especially the Grade 11 students, whose first time to witness and experience the said activity. With the theme: “Liceolympics: Where Champions are Born”, students are ready for a one-week activity full of fun and enjoyment. Who will win the Liceolympics Cup and the House Cup for the Academic Year 2018-1019?
The first day of the activity happened last February 19, 2019. In the morning, the Liceo Marshalls guided the Liceo students for their ID scanning, which is required in the activity. If one missed the chance, the consequence is a community service. Also, ball games and team sport such as Basketball and volleyball started that the same morning. Two teams fight each other to win, and of course, the supporters are not missing the game. You can still hear the screams and chants of the supporters for their team.
In the afternoon of the same day is the opening program of the Liceolympics. With their house icons, the athletes and the coordinators of each houses gathered in the center of the coliseum. In the same afternoon, beautiful ladies, one from each house, compete to win the crown of Miss Liceolympics. The crowned Miss Liceolympics is from the house of Rheims. The houses also showcase their talents in cheer dancing. But only one is the champion and, again, it is the house of Rheims.
On the second and third day, the games continue. But this time, there are more sports -Table Tennis, Swimming, Badminton, Football, Futsal, Othello and Chess- added in the schedule of activities. Each team aims to win the competition, and be able to play for the championship game. On the fourth day, the championship game begins. Each sports has only one to be the champion. Supporters are not missing the game, again. They cheer for their teams until the end of the day.

The last day of Liceolympics is a Family Day and the awarding. The Family Day happened in the morning. The students, together with their parents, enthusiastically join various activities of the Students Activities Council. There is also a raffle going on with gift cards given to lucky students and a certain gift – a sack of rice and maybe appliances- given to the lucky parents. In the afternoon is the awarding. But before announcing the champions, there is a dance competition –Latin-American, Modern-Standard and Hiphop. The points garnered of each houses from the competition is added to their house points. And whoever gets the highest points, in the Liceolympics, is the Liceolympics Champion, and over-all points, will be the House Cup Champion. The House of the Blazing Phoenixes rise from the ashes and announce as the winner of the Liceolympics Cup and the House Cup Champion.
